Mexico City – May 26, 2009- After a wildly successful 2008 show, Electronic Game Show will return to Expo Bancomer Santa Fe in Mexico City from Oct. 23 to 25, 2009.
Electronic Game Show 2009 will be the eighth year for Latin America’s largest videogame event. In addition to the three-day show in October, this will be the first year for EGS Business, to be held Aug. 26-27. The new business-oriented event is designed to provide publishers and retailers with a conference tailor-made for their business needs.
“The tremendous growth of the Latin American videogame market really necessitated the creation of an event just for retailers and publishers,” said Jorge Lizarraga, CEO of the show-organizer company Oelli. “With access to both Electronic Game Show and EGS Business, the Latin American industry will have the networking opportunities and tools it needs to continue pushing into new frontiers.”
Key companies including Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Konami, Activision and THQ have already signed on as exhibitors at this year’s Electronic Game Show.
“EGS has been instrumental in the growth of the Mexican videogames industry,” said Erick Baca, Xbox and SDA Marketing Lead. “Microsoft has been a participant of the event since the beginning and we have seen EGS evolve according to the needs of the industry allowing us to reach our business goals and at the same time increase the awareness of the industry in the market”
2008 marked the first year Electronic Game Show was held at Expo Bancomer Santa Fe, located in Mexico City’s most important business district. The move to the new location, prompted by rapid expansion in the Latin American videogame industry, allowed for a larger exhibition floor than previous years, as well as expanded activities.
More than 26,000 consumers and journalists in attendance last year had the opportunity to explore a number of high-profile pre-release titles including Gears of War 2, Little Big Planet, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.
Electronic Game Show has become one of the largest and most influential events in the digital-entertainment industry. EGS is now the largest videogame event in Latin America. Consumers and journalists at EGS see the newest and best in videogames, consumer electronics, digital entertainment and more.
Greg Peters, VP of product development at Netflix, here. We’ve got good news for PS3 owners! Soon you will be able to instantly watch movies and TV episodes on your TV via your PS3. Today we announced that the PS3 is about to join the ever growing list of Netflix ready devices that allow streaming of movies and TV episodes whenever you want, as much as you want, all included in your unlimited Netflix subscription. The PS3 is a terrific Blu-ray and gaming platform that will get even better in November when we start streaming thousands of movies and TV episodes!
We all knew it was coming but we just didn’t know how long Xbox was going to be able to hold on to it’s exclusive rights. My question is how good would the service compare to the 360’s great party and chat features that in a few words make the service worth it. I would love to have another device with the Netflix service since I already stream HD through my Xbox and on my Laptop when on the road. One thing I know the only way I am going to use Netflix on my PS3 is “if” and only “if” the PS3 get’s 4 or more Party Chat and the ability to stream in HD over it’s “rank” 802.11b wireless built in, give me wireless A or N.
Bottom line this is a good thing for Netflix more than anyone else, since all I heard before this announcement, was how much SONY boys didn’t want or care about Netflix so just like every other things SONY didn’t want, it switches to we have that to.
More information from the Namco Bandai camp, details us a sample of what to come.
In the most recent press release we get word of some pretty big ambitions for Dead to Rights®: Retribution.
“The seamless combat system for Jack blends gunplay, hand-to-hand and an AI-controlled partner Shadow to provide full freedom for players to choose how to get through any combat situation. With no loading or change in menus between each set of mechanics, the player can easily access all three toolsets and decide what to use at any time. While the systems all work well individually, the ability to seamlessly move between and combine the mechanics is the core of the system. Players can choose to combo an enemy and pull the trigger to finish them off, move from cover to cover to ambush an enemy, utilize Shadow to hold an enemy while Jack takes them out with a final shot – the encounter can change each time and it’s all up to the player to decide.
Thrusting players into a mature neo-noir crime drama as vice cop Jack Slate and his canine companion Shadow, Dead to Rights: Retribution introduces new gameplay elements that unify the third person shooting and brawling genres for a brutal and relentless new action-driven experience. Introducing an innovative new hybrid combat system that seamlessly blends gunplay with hand-to-hand combat and AI partner, the gameputs the full combat potential of a highly trained, highly agitated law-enforcement officer into players’ hands.”
I’m glad to offer you a look of the latest Developer’s Diary.
“NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. today released a new developer diary video for Dead to Rights®: Retribution, a ground-up reinvention of the multi-million unit selling crime action series developed by Volatile Games. The new video provides a look at the game’s seamless combat system in motion, which is at the heart of the gameplay system for main character Jack Slate.”

Over on Fourzerotwo’s blog he goes a bit more into the details of the upgraded graphical techniques that are implicated into the new MW2 game. From what I’ve seen here, it looks like companies are really getting smarter on getting more graphical performance out of these current generation consoles.
Major Nelson sent out word via Twitter with a link to his blog with some great high resolution images of the upcoming Xbox 360 controller. The controller is do out later this month. Hit the break for the visuals.
Now granted I really don’t like to enlist in promotions for free games or like to sign up for shit in order to get “a chance” to win a game. This promotion is safe secure and does not spam you with crap you don’t want.
With Tekken 6 arriving in stores for a 10.28.09 release date, I thought it would be nice to show you a portion of the game that will probably get little to no press.
Namco Bandai just released three brand new trailers. The videos consist of Vs. battles between a few of the main characters of the series. I am going to give my Blip.tv account a try and see how it goes. Blip.tv allows me to upload and have more control over how I want to distribute and control my content. Let me know how the buffering is compared to my Youtube videos. Enjoy the videos after the break.
Last week I posted the last update from Mathew Everett Community & Content Manager Pandemic Studios, you can read it here. Today I received this weeks update for The Saboteur and it’s full of information on the status of this great title. Read the rest after the break.
With TGS 2009 pumping out a whole lot of Playstation news, we all forgot that both Nintendo and Microsoft had a few things to show off as well. This morning I found some juicy information in my E-Mail. Boy have times really changed for the XBLA games as of late. I can recall the first generation of Xbox 360’s XBL Arcade games. Games like DigDug, Pacman and Frogger flooded the platforms network and while they are cool to play even to this day I felt like XBLA was missing something that made it a true destination for AAA games.
Now fast forward to 2009 and we can all agree, the quality of the Xbox Live Arcade games are starting to rival even full retail DISK based titles in terms of visuals and game play depth. One stand out title that needs no introduction IMO is Shadow Complex.
But let me get to the point, Square Enix has just posted the TGS 2009 trailer for 0 Day attack on Earth a game coming to the 360’s XBLA platform. There are actually quite a few amazing titles that are in the pipe for the end of this year and beyond, but after seeing this video I had to make sure as many gamers got a glimpse of this amazing title.
Operation Flashpoint has gone gold and will be on schedule for an October release for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The first video was released today and shows off some multi-player game play, sweet.! Hit the break to see the visuals.
I have been waiting on information to come in from Deep Silver regarding their multi-platform game RISEN and here are a couple of images of the Box Art for the Xbox 360 version, enjoy!
I was on Twitter today and my buddy @TheUnseenShadow was asking me if I had tried the new Netflix Update with anyone else that had gotten the Xbox 360 preview update.
I told him that I didn’t have any other friends that got the update and that I hadn’t tried it yet. Here is a screen capture of the proof that Netflix does allow for multi device streaming on a single account.
Here is our conversation. I felt bad for saying he was lying and I guess I was wrong but am now more knowledgeable for it.
I want to thank TheUnseenShadow for the tip. Follow him on twitter @TheUnseenShadow or Gamertag: TheUnseenShadow he’s a cool guy. Peace..!
