netflix-logo-with-playstation-3-consoleIt’s now official, everyone is posting this as I do the same. Here is a straight to the point post from Netflix’s own Official Blog.

Netflix coming to PS3

Greg Peters, VP of product development at Netflix, here. We’ve got good news for PS3 owners! Soon you will be able to instantly watch movies and TV episodes on your TV via your PS3. Today we announced that the PS3 is about to join the ever growing list of Netflix ready devices that allow streaming of movies and TV episodes whenever you want, as much as you want, all included in your unlimited Netflix subscription. The PS3 is a terrific Blu-ray and gaming platform that will get even better in November when we start streaming thousands of movies and TV episodes!

We all knew it was coming but we just didn’t know how long Xbox was going to be able to hold on to it’s exclusive rights. My question is how good would the service compare to the 360’s great party and chat features that in a few words make the service worth it. I would love to have another device with the Netflix service since I already stream HD through my Xbox and on my Laptop when on the road. One thing I know the only way I am going to use Netflix on my PS3 is “if” and only “if” the PS3 get’s 4 or more Party Chat and the ability to stream in HD over it’s “rank” 802.11b wireless built in, give me wireless A or N.

Bottom line this is a good thing for Netflix more than anyone else, since all I heard before this announcement, was how much SONY boys didn’t want or care about Netflix so just like every other things SONY didn’t want, it switches to we have that to.

Netflix goes the PS3 route, too!?

Xbox 360 to get BluRay add-on from Toshiba?

In add-on, bluray, editorial, netflix, party, toshiba on August 10, 2009 by Social Gamer

Now that we all know that Toshiba is going to be joining the BluRay standard do you think that Microsoft will continue with the partnership it once had with Toshiba and release a BluRay add on drive?
In my opinion the timing would be perfect since the going prices for a stand alone BR device is now around $150 bucks.
The Xbox 360 has really come along way from the days of HD-DVD and in all reality BluRay is the last feature that is not on the Xbox 360 verses the PS3’s own built in BluRay drive.
Imagine that the Xbox 360 gets a price cut for it’s Elite system to $299.99 and then MS/Toshiba release a $99.99 BR Drive…?
I could see them push the 360 as the truly ultimate value for this generation, for 399.99 you would get a 120Gb HDD, Netflix intergration with the ability to be in a online party with your buddies, HD component cables included, headset, Games On-Demand also instant 1080p stream rentals and BluRay….!
You know it would be a great package in any case.
Now granted their would be haters of such a deal and their would be those who do not want to add yet another device by the TV.
I feel like for those who have yet to buy a current generation gaming console, this would be the perfect time to get the bargain of a lifetime.
Not only would this be a great deal for movie buffs but the amount of Triple-A games on the 360 that sell in the multi millions add to it’s value this would be a hard package to resist.

Netflix plans allow you to watch simultaneously on more than one personal computer or Netflix ready device

In netflix, pro tip, stream, xbox 360 on August 2, 2009 by Social Gamer

I was on Twitter today and my buddy @TheUnseenShadow was asking me if I had tried the new Netflix Update with anyone else that had gotten the Xbox 360 preview update.

I told him that I didn’t have any other friends that got the update and that I hadn’t tried it yet.
Here is a screen capture of the proof that Netflix does allow for multi device streaming on a single account.

Here is our conversation. I felt bad for saying he was lying and I guess I was wrong but am now more knowledgeable for it.

I want to thank TheUnseenShadow for the tip.

Microsoft is an online retailer through Xbox Live!

Head of Xbox Live says console service eases pressure on High Street space.

Xbox Live boss John Schappert has told MCV that Xbox Live’s role as an ‘online retailer’ is taking the pressure off the battle for High Street shelf space.

Speaking in the build-up to the ‘revolutionary’ Xbox Live Dashboard update next month, Schappert said:

“There are games coming that would not get the space at retail, and that’s a big part of why we’re refreshing the system.”

“We want to widen the content to make it more accessible for different users. It’s pretty hard to get retail distribution these days, and shelf space continues to be a challenge and people are opting for that – Penny Arcade is a great example of that.”

1st no Netflix Party Mode, now NO PRIMETIME?

In Virtual worlds, XBLive!, avatar, hard drive, hdd, multiplayer, netflix, networking, party, primetime, videogames, voice chat, xbox 360, xbox live on October 21, 2008 by Social Gamer Tagged: , , , ,

This morning I was looking over the usual major blogs and to my surprise I ran into this little bit of news on the Forbes website game shows for the NXE. I was really looking forward to this offering as well as the Netflix party stream mode but look like the only functional feature other than the ability to install me games is, creating a cool avatar. Why oh Why are we losing Xbox 360 losing all of the main functions stated throughout the entire marketing campaign?
